www.orsracksdirect.com Yakima Raptor Aero & Raptor bike racks review video & demo by ORS Racks Direct. Demonstration movie of the Yakima Raptor Aero & Raptor upright mount bicycle carriers showing features including classic Yakima styling and easy-loading bike loading characteristics. The Yakima Raptor Aero version includes universal adapter clamps for mounting to any factory rack crossbars, while the regular Yakima Raptor is compatible with Yakima roof rack round bars and Thule square bars (also compatible with factory rack bars if used in combination with a set of Yakima Universal Mighty Mounts adapters). The Raptor Aero and Raptor fit virtually all bicycle sizes and shapes from small 20" wheel kids bikes and bmx style bikes on up to cruisers & hybrids, road bikes and mountain bikes. Securely clamps right onto bicycle down tube for a very solid and sturdy attachment. Easy to use over-sized knob for quick clamping adjustment. Upright mounting design allows both wheels to stay on. Optionally lock bicycle inside either bike carrier using a Yakima SKS lock core.

what is the point in buying a lock for this bike mount?? couldn’t anyone just unscrew the screws and take the mount right off the rack with the bike??,, simple as pie,, no cutting of cables even!! LOL,, isn’t it smarter to lock a long cable around the frame of the bike and attach it to the rack instead??

This review comes closest to addressing my question about downtubes so far. I have a squared, carbon fiber downtube. How well, and safely will the jaws accommodate this type? I read one review indicating paint wear (maybe jaws weren’t clean?).
Thanks!

this looks nice..and easy to use. but couldn’t you just chain it up with a regular bike chain for security too?

Convenience is the main difference between the Raptor and the HighRoller / King Cobra models. You do not have to worry about losing your bicycle with any of these models. The holders on the HighRoller and KingCobra do a superb job of stabilizing the bike so there is no constant movement that would somehow allow the front wheel skewer to come undone. Also the locking cable and rear wheel strap provide additional stabilization and security.

Please tell me if this model is safer than the King Cobra and High Roller simply because the bar holds on to the bottom tube of the bicycle. It seems scary that King Cobra and High Roller models just press on the front wheel. What if the hub screw is loose? Wouldn’t the bike frame fly off on the free way or over bumpy road? Many thanks!
